Every year 10,000 families in the UK have a child diagnosed with a life threatening or terminal illness. No one expects to out-live their children. The pressures on a family coping with a terminally ill child are extreme. Siblings often feel neglected as the attention of their parents, family and friends focuses on their sick brother and sister. While their children are suffering, many parents struggle to keep their marriages together. They often forget their own health and emotional needs and the importance of spending time with each other and their healthy children.

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity exists to provide a unique and special service to these families. Set up in 1986, we offer non-medical, practical and emotional help.  Through our teams of Family Support Workers and our respite houses in Surrey and Northumberland, we aim to maintain a sense of normality, and keep families together. No other charity or body provides the extent of professional care and consistency of contact as Rainbow Trust. Our work is vital, emotional and a practical lifeline to those who turn to us.
